Re: Age for Civil Services Exam

Civil Service is the most covered employment in India. Choice for the employments under Civil Services is done through the three pronged exam design Prelims - Mains - Interview that is led by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Age limits

A competitor more likely than not accomplished the age of 21 years and must not have achieved the age of 32 years on the first of August, 2017 i.e., he/she probably been conceived not sooner than second August, 1985 and not later than first August, 1996.
The upper age confine endorsed above is casual:

Up to a most extreme of five years if an applicant has a place with a Scheduled Caste (SC) or a Scheduled Tribe (ST).

Up to a most extreme of three years on account of applicants having a place with Other Backward Classes (OBC) who are qualified to benefit of reservation appropriate to such competitors

Up to a most extreme of five years if a competitor had commonly been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir amid the period from the first January, 1980 to the 31st December, 1989

Up to a most extreme of five years on account of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered no less than five years Military Service as on first August, 2017 and have been discharged

NOTE I:

Applicants having a place with the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and the Other Backward Classes who are likewise secured under whatever other provisions of para 3(ii) (b) above, viz. those going under the classification of Ex-servicemen, people domiciled in the State of J and K, visually impaired, hard of hearing quiet and orthopedically impeded and so on will be qualified for give of aggregate age-unwinding under both the classes.

NOTE II:


The term ex-servicemen will apply to the people who are characterized as ex-servicemen in the Ex-servicemen (Re-work in Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 1979, as corrected now and again.

NOTE III:

The age concession under para 3(ii) (b) (v) and (vi) won't be allowable to Ex Servicemen and Commissioned Officers including ECOs/SSCOs who are discharged on claim ask.

NOTE IV:
