The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha is a Body Corporate constituted under the Odisha Secondary Education Act, 1953. It directs, controls and developes Secondary Education in the State of Odisha. It Provides changed courses keeping in mind the end goal to prepare understudies for various occupations, to set them up for University training and to prepare them for different social purposes. It looks at the individuals who have finished an endorsed course of study and honors testaments to the fruitful competitors. Additionally, it does every single other thing which are coincidental to the above.

It began working in the year 1955 and is currently situated at Bajrakabati Road, Cuttack-753001, Odisha (India).

Functions of the Board

The significant elements of the Board are :

To lead High School Certificate Examinations (H.S.C.E.) and examinations of different courses endorsed by the Board.

To get ready courses of studies, reading material, showing materials and so forth.

To distribute and disperse/offer course readings, syllabuses, lesson notes, exercise manuals and other related materials.

To issue endorsements of the examinations led by the Board and identicalness declaration to the examinations of other State Boards.

To perceive the auxiliary schools for the examinations of the Board.

To make directions for undertaking distinctive elements of the Board.

To deal with Secondary Education through Orientation Programs, Refresher Courses and other scholarly projects.
