Re: CUSAT Centre for Science in Society

The Center for Science in Society (C-SiS) was begun in 1991 in the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) campus in perspective of promotion of Science and Technology among youngsters. The Center behaviors different projects about science consistently. The Center has its own offices like library, workshop, PC lab, science lab, toy lab, science park and so on.

Kids can touch and feel those hypotheses they have considered in their schools. The Center expects to make experimental mindfulness among kids through play models.

Aside from different projects utilizing the offices of the Center, there are courses, test programs, visits to research foundations, University divisions, businesses and so forth. Understudies can do ventures utilizing the offices of the Center. The Child Scientist's Forum which meets twice in consistently for the entire year is another open door for the youthful researchers to get down to earth information through workshops, ventures, short visits to University divisions and so forth.

The activities of the C-SiS include,

1. One Day Attachment Programme (ODAP)

2. Child Scientists' Forum(CSF)

1. Lecture Cum Demonstration on a topic in a frontier area in Science.
2. “See and Believe” Laboratory Experiment Sessions: Where children can do basic experiments in Science and experience the thrill of it.
3. A visit to Science pavilion: Where the participants can interact with various gadgets and models arranged.
4. Visiting Children’s Science Park: The outdoor facility where the children can play and learn many scientific principles through play models and gadgets displayed.
5. Utilizing Children’s Science Library: The participants can take memberships in the library to access many rare and well-illustrated science books and journals specially designed for children.
6. Interaction with the multimedia Computer facility: For learning and internet exposure.
7. The mini workshop facility: For handy-boys and girls.
8. The toy lab: A large collection of Science based toys and play models for younger children.

Science Park:

This is an office made to draw in kids to science through fascinating play models in which exploratory standards are very much included. The youngsters appreciate playing with these devices organized in an outside office where the connection is a great deal more compelling than that in the structure. Actually, the structure and the science park are correlative. In the structure, the cooperation is with research center investigations while in the science park, that is with playing models. From the late spring programs we have led, it is watched that the kids appreciate both these with awesome energy.
