Set up in 1958, Armament Research and Development Establishment is on the edge of the fifth decade of its presence, under Defence Research and Development Organization. The assignment of Armament R&D was endowed to ARDE to accomplish the treasured objective of independence in the crucial field of Armaments.

To end up a World class community for improvement of focused frameworks and innovations identified with Conventional Armaments for Land, Sea and Air.

MISSION

To prepare the Indian Armed Forces with state-o-craftsmanship Conventional Armaments by Research, Design, Development and innovation exchange through Synergy amongst DDO, OFB/Industry, OA Agencies, Academia and National R&D Agencies, bringing about Self-dependence in this Critical Defense Technology.

The assignment of Armament R&D was depended to ARDE to accomplish the loved objective of independence in the imperative field of Armaments. ARDE set out on its central goal in a simple office inside the grounds of Ammunition Factory, Kirkee and faculty were drawn from recent Technical Development Establishment (Weapons) situated in Jabalpur and Technical Development Establishment (Ammunition) at Kirkee

• Design & Development of Conventional Armaments (CA) for the Services and Para-Military Forces
• Basic & Applied Research, Modeling, Simulation and Software development in the field of CA
• ToT to production/QA agencies and productionisation
• Pilot Plant production of Critical stores/Materials
• Assistance to Industry in production of Armt stores
• Life extension and PIPs for in-Service equipment
• Weapon Systems of Foreign Origin T&E and advice to Services regarding induction and indigenisation.
