IISc JRF Exam
Can you tell me if it is mandatory to clear JRF Exam to apply for Research Programmes [Ph D/M Tech (Research)] in IISc or Indian Institute of Science?

Yes, it is mandatory to qualifying in one of the following appropriate national tests: CSIR-UGC NET for JRF; UGC-NET for JRF; DBT JRF; ICMR JRF; JEST; NBHM Screening Test; GATE; INSPIRE Fellows (for Ph D). Other Eligibility Bachelor’s or Master's degree in an appropriate field of Engineering/Technology /Architecture/ Medicine/ Agriculture/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Sciences; or Master’s degree in Science in an appropriate field, or Master’s in Economics, Geography, Social Work, Psychology, Management, Commerce, Operations Research, Computer Science/ Application as applicable to the respective departments. ME/ M Tech/ M Sc (Engg)/ M Des or MS or MBA (post BE/B Tech) degree holders who wants to apply for Ph D in the departments in Engineering Faculty need to have qualified in any of the above mentioned exams prior to their Master’s studies. Master's degree holders in an appropriate field of Engineering/Technology /Architecture/ Medicine/ Agriculture/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Sciences - one who want to apply for Ph D in the departments in Science Faculty must have qualified in GATE/ JRF/GPAT prior to their Master’s studies. Application Fee Category Application Fee General / OBC Rs. 800/- SC / ST / PWD (person with disability) Rs. 400/- ERP candidates (All categories) Rs. 2000/- Sponsored candidates from Defence, DRDO, BARC, ISRO, NAL, KSRTC, BMTC, BDA PWD and CPRI Rs. 800/- The fee is non refundable; any bank or payment gateway service charges must be borne by the applicants. |
