IUCAA Entrance Exam

Hello sir I am here as I want to get to know the eligibility Criteria required for IUCAA-NCRA Admission Test (INAT) so will you please tell me the Eligibility Criteria??

Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune and National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), Pune Admission Test (ICAAA NCRA) Admission Test is conducted Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (NCRA-TIFR), Pune to select candidates for a research scholarship towards a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at either IUCAA or NCRA-TIFR.



Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are expecting to complete their M.Sc or B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech degrees by August 2016 with more than 55% marks are eligible to apply.

Besides talented final-year B.Sc., 1st year M.Sc and 2nd/3rd year B.E./B.Tech students may also apply to be PRE-SELECTED for a research scholarship towards a Ph.D at IUCAA for Physics or Astronomy and Astrophysics or at NCRA-TIFR for Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Students in any branch of the B.E., B.Tech., M.E. or M.Tech degrees, or in the Physics, Electronics, Astronomy or Applied Mathematics branches of the B.Sc or M.Sc degrees, are eligible to apply for INAT.


INAT Exam Syllabus

INAT Exam consists of one paper of two parts.

Part 1 consists of questions from

-Basic Mathematics
-Physics and
-Electronics

Part 2 consists of questions from:

-Advanced Physics
-Mathematics and
-Electronics/Engineering


Exam Pattern


INAT consists of written exam followed by interview as given below:

INAT question paper will be divided into two parts.

-First part contains 20 objective-type questions on basic Mathematics, Physics and Electronics.

-Second part contains another 20 objective-type questions from Advanced Physics, Mathematics and Electronics/Engineering.

Candidate is awarded +3 (plus three) marks for every correct answer, and for a wrong answer, there will be -1 (minus one) mark.

The written examination duration will be of two hours.

The final selection is based on the scores in the written test and interviews.
