The MBA/Software Engineering dual degree provides access to Carnegie Mellon's top-ranked School of Computer Science, preparing MBAs with advanced engineering, managerial, decision-making, and communication skills necessary to advance to senior levels of technology strategist.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The Master of Business Administration and Master of Software Engineering (MBA/MSE) degree program is a 32-month (seven semester) program, starting each year in late August. This dual-degree program is designed for exceptionally strong candidates applying for the MBA and the MSE programs.

This program is provided by the Tepper School of Business and the School of Computer Science.

To enter the Carnegie Mellon program you must have:

1. Applied to both the MBA and MSE programs, through the Tepper School of Business and the Master of Software Engineering online application portals. The schools to which you apply will send separate notifications of your acceptance status.

2. Review the admission requirements of both dual-degree programs. Additional MSE requirements include:

a B.S. degree in engineering or science
a completed application form
a well-developed statement of purpose (SOP)
a 1-page summary of significant professional experience
a current resume
3 letters of recommendation
unofficial undergraduate and/or graduate transcripts
unofficial Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores
unofficial TOEFL (or equivalent) exam scores for all international applicants/non-U.S. citizens
application fee.

Admission to the Tepper School MBA Program requirements:

Unofficial Transcripts of All Academic Work
Official GMAT Score (preferred) or GRE (accepted)
Official TOEFL or IELTS Score (if non-native English speaker)
