The Government of Andhra Pradesh built up Nalgonda University in the year 2007 vide Government Orders in G.O.19/HE (UE-II) Department, dt: 13/3/2007 by appropriately revising the Andhra Pradesh Universities Act 1991 under Section-3(1) in L.A.Bill No.4 of 2007. The foundation of this college is a piece of the vision of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to advance get to, value and comprehensiveness in Higher Education.

This University has been renamed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh as Mahatma Gandhi University by altering the Schedule of Act 4 of 1991, which was distributed in the A.P. Paper on April 28, 2008. The University Head Quarters were situated in Nalgonda town amid the announcing year 2010-11 and its lasting grounds is being created in 240 sections of land of land apportioned to the University on the state roadway (Nalgonda – Narketpally) at Anneparthy, 7kms from Nalgonda town.

Mahatma Gandhi University is not situated in the city of Jalandhar or even does not have any education centre of the University situated in Jalandhar.
