The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education came into existence on January 1, 1966 and is a statutory and autonomous body established under the Maharashtra Secondary Boards Act 1965 (amended in 1977). It regulates certain matters pertaining to secondary education in the state of Maharashtra, India. The most prominent task of the board is to conduct the SSC and HSC examinations. The exams are conducted throughout the state of Maharashtra, and students studying in the Government-run High Schools are required to give this examination for further Secondary Education, for which the admission is given on the basis on merit. Functions Administration Committee Formation and implementation of the rules and regulations in accordance to the guidelines set by the state and central boards. Board of Studies Formation and implementation of the syllabus of all the grades, textbooks, exam schedule and type Committee of Writers Actual creation of textbooks, scoring of the centralized tests and correction of question papers A total 41 departments are currently functioning under the committee of writers. Examination Committee Conduct examinations fairly and providing unbiased justice in the event of dispute.
