Mysore University Archeology
Hi I would like to have the information about the Department of Ancient History and Archeology at University of Mysore as well as the courses it offers and the faculty members of the Department?

In the year 1952, Professor K.A.Neelakanta Sastry was welcomed as leader of the office and the ex-officio Director of Archeology of Mysore State, served upto March 1956 and Dr.M.Sheshadri, Professor of History, succeeded him. In the year 1958, a fullfledged autonomous Department was formed.The under-graduate and post-graduate branches of Indology consolidated at Maharaja's College since their origin upto the year 1963. A different office at Manasagangotri with other P.G. Offices likewise moved to the new campus.In the year 1968, to carry the consistency with the sister divisions, the name of the office was changed from Department of Indology to Department of Ancient History and Archeology.The Department has led unearthings at a few locales crosswise over Karnataka. The aftereffects of the unearthings have pulled in the consideration of researchers in paleontology. Courses Offered Sl No Courses Length Qualification Criteria 1. M.A.- Ancient History and Archeology Two Years B.A. with Ancient History and Archeology/History/Archaeolgy and Museology as significant subject 2. P.G.Diploma in Epigraphy One Year Any Degree 3. P.G.Diploma in Museology, Tourism and Heritage(MTH) One Year Any Degree and Five seats for Deputation from concerned offices 4.
