Re: Procedure for MSc Biotech in Hyderabad University

Selection in MSc Biotech in Hyderabad University based on Common Entrance Examination in Biotechnology (CEEB) conducted by the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi as part of the Biotechnology program supported by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India.

Eligibility Requirements for CEEB

- Must have Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, 4-years B.Sc (Physician Assistant Course); or Medicine (MBBS) or BDS with at least 55% marks
-The candidates who are due to appear in the respective qualifying examination prescribed as eligibility for admission shall also be considered for appearing in the entrance examination

Combined Biotech Entrance Exam Pattern
-The question paper for the entrance examination will be of three hours duration and divided into two parts

Part A--

-Part-A will have multiple choice type questions at the level of 10+2 in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology
-The candidates will be required to attempt 60 questions
-Total marks for Part A will be (60 questions x 1 mark each) of 60 marks
-There will be negative marking and for each wrong answer, ½ (half) mark will be deducted

Part B--
-Part-B will also have multiple-choice questions of Bachelor’s level requiring thinking and analysis
-There will be questions from Physics, Mathematics, Biology (e.g., Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology) and Chemistry
-The candidates will be required to attempt 60 questions
-Total marks for Part-B will be 60 questions x 3 marks each = 180 marks
-There will be negative marking and for each wrong answer one mark will be deducted

Important Dates for JNU Biotech Entrance Exam 2014


Start of Online Application process from: 07th February 2014 (10.00 a.m.)
Issue of offline Application Forms (by Post): 07th February 2014
Last date for issue of offline Application Forms (by Post): 11th March 2014
Closing of online Application Process till 05.00 p.m. on 26th March, 2014

Last date of submission of completed Application Form to reach JNU:
i) Offline Application Forms: 28th March, 2014
ii) Printed copy of online Application Form: 02nd April, 2014
Date and time of Entrance Examination: 19th May 2014 (09.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon)
