The Department of Geography is one of the oldest Department of Ranchi University. It was established in the year 1954.

The Department has the credit of doing pioneering work in the areas of settlement geography, geomorphology, and regional planning.

The Department has got expertise in different fields of research work in Zoology and conducts regular research guidance activity in bioremediation, environmental microbiology, pollution ecology, industrial toxicology, Stress Physiology, Insects Taxonomy & Biodiversity, Fish Physiology & endocrinology, stored product entomology, amelioration through plant extracts, Paedobiology,limnology, vermitechnology, histochemistry, etc.

Courses-

MA program-

Duration - 2 years (Four semesters) with an exam at the end of each semester

Admission Eligibility: BSc/ BSc (Hons).

Research Degree:

MPhil:

Duration 1 year (Two semesters)

Eligibility - MA with 55% marks in for General & OBC category and 50% marks for SC/ST category

Doctorate Degrees:

The University awards PhD degree .
