Railway Service Commission, Ajmer which was set up in 1983 was renamed as Railway Recruitment Board Ajmer in 1985.It was moved in the present working in March 1988.

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Ajmer works under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. It is fundamentally in charge of enlisting the working and supervisory staff (Group 'C') required for Ajmer, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner Divisions of North-Western Railway and Kota Division of West-Central Railway.

There Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB) at the Railway Board level administers the working of RRBs.
