The Government of West Bengal has set up the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, under West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, Act 1975. Embrace the arrangement, distribution and offer of Text Books and different books for use in the Recognized Institutions;

Initiate Higher Secondary Examination for the motivations behind the Act;

The Higher Secondary Course should comprise of two sections, i.e. Class XI and Class XII. The educational programs of Higher Secondary Course should comprise of

Two language subjects one each from Group 'An' and Group 'B' of Schedule II

Three necessary elective subjects, one each to be looked over any gathering

One discretionary elective subject to be looked over the gatherings staying after the choice of mandatory elective subject.
