The Government of West Bengal has set up the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, under West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, Act 1975. The committee is the primary body which takes care of the training framework in the 10+2. The chamber has its primary office at Salt Lake, Bidhannagar, Korunamoyee, Kolkata alongside 4 territorial workplaces.

The Council is a body corporate with ceaseless progression and a typical seal, and is qualified for gain, hold and discard property, to go into contracts and to do every single other thing important for the reasons for this Act and might by its name sue and be utilized. Its capacities are executed through an Organization Structure.

It is the obligation of the Council to prompt the State Government on all issues identifying with Higher Secondary Education alluded to it by the State Government. The Council has the ability to coordinate, oversee and control the Higher Secondary Education in the State.

The significant elements of the Council are to:

Survey intermittently the Educational needs at higher optional level at the state and set out the General approach for the improvement of the Higher Secondary Education;

Accommodate review of Recognized Institutions;

Give by directions, the educational modules, syllabus, the courses of concentrates to be taken after and the books to be contemplated in Recognized Institutions;

Embrace the arrangement, distribution and offer of Text Books and different books for use in the Recognized Institutions;

Initiate Higher Secondary Examination for the motivations behind the Act;

To distribute aftereffects of examination established by the Council and to grant declarations and grant thereof;

The Higher Secondary Course should comprise of two sections, i.e. Class XI and Class XII. The educational programs of Higher Secondary Course should comprise of

Two language subjects one each from Group 'An' and Group 'B' of Schedule II

Three necessary elective subjects, one each to be looked over any gathering

One discretionary elective subject to be looked over the gatherings staying after the choice of mandatory elective subject.
