Youth Mental Health Building (YMBH) is part of the Brain and Mind Research Institute (BMRI) of the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Sydney, Church Street, Camperdown. The BMRI is focused on research into mental health and clinical issues relating to the brain. YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH is a research program conducted in BMRI. The Youth Mental Health Program comprises of Youth Depression & Bipolar and Substance Misuse & Psychosis. Youth Depression & Bipolar The BMRI Youth Mental Health Research Program investigates the neurobiology of major psychiatric disorders as well as substance misuse, with the goal of being able to provide early intervention for these disabling mental health conditions. Collaborators: Orygen Youth Health Research Centre Centre for Research Excellence Suicide Prevention (CRESP) National Mental Health Commission Research facilities headspace Clinical imaging Substance misuse & psychosis Emerging evidence suggests that teenagers and young people are particularly sensitive to the negative effects of excessive or prolonged alcohol exposure. However, most of the research in this area has focused on adults or on animal models.
