Department of Chemistry of Kalyani University was set up in 1961 with Prof. S.K. Mukherjee, renowned agricultural chemist and former Vice-Chancellor of this University and Calcutta University, as the Head and with four faculty members.


Degree & Courses Offered:

Ph.D- One URS is allotted to each of the faculty members apart from the sanctioned research fellows in individual schemes NET (CSIR)-JRF and NET (UGC)-JRF.

M.Sc. in 'Chemistry'- A two-year post-graduate degree with the option of specialization in four areas- Analytical, Inorganic, Organic, Physical

Computer Facility:
Computational: A separate computer laboratory consisting 20 PCs with one server, two printers (one Laser and one HP DeskJet).
There is a Central Internet Center in the University with somewhat restricted access. Better facilities from this centre are expected.
