The Department of Geography is one of the oldest and also the largest in
South India. It was established 1942 under the Chairmanship of Sri. Syed
Ahmed . To begin with Geography was introduced at the Intermediate and at
the Under-graduate levels, P.G.course was introduced in 1955.

P.G. Diploma in Geographical Cartography (Evening Course)

Laboratories

Remote Sensing, GIS, Cartographic, Soil, Computer and Field Survey labs.

Equipment

Grant Projector and Optical Pantograph, Tracing Tables, Ammonia Printing,
Digital Planimeter, Curvimeter, Mirror and Pocket stereoscopes, LCD
Projector, GPS and various Cartographic and Survey instruments.

Computer Facilities

A Separate computer lab. is available with adequate facilities. Fifteen
Computer systems with printers (3) and software including ArcInfo and
MapInfo for GIS are available and the lab. is under expansion
