In a turning point surgery, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) played out its 50th fruitful heart transplant - a first for any open doctor's facility in the nation - on Diwali eve this year.

AIIMS has done the maximum number of transplantations in a public hospital. Fortis Malar in Chennai has done 122 transplantations, the highest in India.
